Chainguard, a Kirkland, Wash.-based cybersecurity startup founded in October, has raised $50 million.

The startup, which is remote but has its official headquarters in the Seattle area, aims to help customers secure their “software supply chain,” a term used to describe a company’s software production line.

Chainguard is led by CEO Dan Lorenc, a former Microsoft and Google engineer who is based in Austin. He started Chainguard with Ville Aikas, Matt Moore, and Scott Nichols, former engineers at Google and VMWare who are all based in the Seattle region, in addition to Kim Lewandowski, a former Google product manager based in the Bay Area.

Sequoia Capital led the Series A round, which included participation from Amplify, the Chainsmokers’ Mantis VC, LiveOak Venture Partners, Banana Capital, K5/JPMC, and others.
