Two years ago, genomics pioneer Leroy Hood and tech executive Clayton Lewis launched a unique enterprise: Arivale, a scientific wellness startup that uses data-like genetic information to help customers manage their health.
Now, as the company approaches the two-year mark, Arivale has completed the first close on $13.6 million in a new round of funding, GeekWire has learned.
The funds, part of a planned $30 million investment round, brings Arivale’s total funding to just over $50 million.
Arivale CEO Clayton Lewis told GeekWire that the funds come from existing investors and a few new additions, which will be announced when the full round closes later this year.
The company has grown dramatically, going from just 19 employees when it launched in July of 2015 to 170 today, and Lewis says the company plans to grow even more over the coming years.
“The new funds we’re bringing in now are going to be to help us scale the business more aggressively than we have over the past two years,” he said.
